WHAT IS A PERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS WHEEL?

 A Personal Effectiveness Wheel is a tool that managers can use with their direct reports to identify and agree areas for development. Once areas have been chosen, employees and managers will agree what a 10/10 looks like in that area for the employee in their current role, and this is what the employee will strive to continually achieve.

Employees should complete at least one Personal Effectiveness Wheel between each 1-2-1, but for some employees they will benefit from completing a wheel each week.

At each 1-2-1, employees will bring their completed wheel(s) with the scores they have given themself - managers and their reports will then discuss these scores and compare them to the last ones. After this discussion, scores may be increased or reduced accordingly.


This provides managers and employees with clarity around what the individual's development areas are, and how they have performed in that area since the last 1-2-1.
